The Nakansendo trail to Tsumago was a highlight of our trip and I totally recommend spending a night/s here to do it :)

Lively pets around, which was a welcomed change :) A 30 min walk from Gifu JR, hosts happily dropped us to the station at checkout. I believe you can organise pick up and drop off with the host. Regardless, a 30 min walk on flat ground is completely possible and should not deter anyone. However there is a local line which is 13 min walk from the house.

Nyakuichioji Shrine is beside the property and a mountain stream flows through the property premises. It’s a quiet location, which is nice. First time in years that I have slept without earplugs. Good to know: you can not bathe at the guesthouse. I was a bit scared of using the Onsen at first, but ended up loving it. The hosts are such nice people. They made my stay even better, thank you so much.

The property is non-smoking and is located 41 km from Japan Taisho Village. Great location and very easy to find. The room was spacious and we really enjoyed the traditional Japanese atmosphere. There was a private kitchen as well, which we didn’t use but it was nice to have a fridge to keep our drinks cool for the hike the following day. The owner was so kind to make a dinner reservation at a very nice Japanese restaurant with a set menu and private room. It was so perfect that my partner decided to propose to me a bit earlier than he had planned. Thank you guesthouse YANAGIYA for creating this beautiful memory for us!
