Located in Alajuela and surrounded by mountains and tropical gardens, Recreo Verde Hot Springs & Spa offers an outdoor swimming pool and hot springs. Free private parking is also available. LOVED EVERYTHING!!! The room was large and kind of rustic in a camp sort of way but charming and had great chairs to sit and watch the jungle. Andrew the chef is clearly Michelin - bound made excellent meals and the massage was heavenly and in a superb setting! Hot mineral spring pools were also GREAT!

Hotel Rosa De Sharon is located in the town of Venecia in Alajuela and offers free WiFi access available. Each functional and simple room here will provide you with a TV. The staff is very friendly and attentive, they even offered to take me to another hotel that they have a partnership with at no extra cost, they said the rooms were better at the other place but I didn't mind staying at this hotel since it was just for the night.

This Finca Isla Rainforest Retreat is owned by nice German-Tico couple, Ingrid and Marco. Both live for their 80 ha of jungle, which they protect and maintain with the sustainable methods. It was great sleep there and feel the nature around. The owners are very heplful and they are able prepare food for you from their home planted bio-products! (better ask with little of anticipacion)

My recent stay at Selvatica in Bajos del Toro was incredible. Francisco, the host, made the experience exceptional by his warm welcome and flexibility with an early check-in. Selvatica's location, just minutes from the town center, provided the perfect balance of tranquility and convenience. The rooms were spotlessly clean, featuring nice sofas, a fully equipped kitchen, and a comfy bed. Nearby, a cute shop had goodies, water and other local stuff. Also, Francisco let me store my bag pack in the property after check-out because I was going to the waterfalls. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Selvatica as one of the best stays in Bajos del Toro. Thank you, Francisco, for creating such a memorable experience. Can't wait to return to this hidden paradise!

Offering a restaurant on-site, Bosque de Paz Reserva Biologica is located in Alajuela. The property boasts a large terrace offering stunning views of the surrounding nature. We had the most amazing stay and the staff (thank you Mario in particular!) couldn't have been more accommodating of our photography needs! The place is teeming with wildlife which was the reason for our stay: hundreds of hummingbirds around the feeders along with many other spacial sightings in and around the lodge including a quetzal exceeded our expectations by far! Our room was very (very!) spacious with the most comfortable bed we've had during our time in Costa Rica (it wasn't "extra firm" like most others...)
