Set in Aswan, 18 km from Aga Khan Mausoleum, Kato Waidi Nubian Resort offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a restaurant. We stayed in the Kolod room at Kato Waidi and it was beautiful! The room, the property and the entire Nubian village is colourfully decorated. The room was a decent size, fabulously decorated and its domed roof made for the strangest acoustics (worth having a play with if you're staying with someone else!). The bathroom was small and the shower was almost directly over the toilet but this oddly was not an issue as it was not cramped at all and the water on the floor drains and dries up very quickly. Everything was very clean. We loved having meals in the outdoor dining area. The dogs and cats on the property were very entertaining and a highlight of the stay. The Egyptian food was nice too. The Nubian market is directly outside the entrance of the property and is a great way to spend a bit of time. There was also an ATM right outside the hotel entrance which was handy. The manager is so easy going and attentive. He ensured our room was available even though we arrived very early and even had breakfast made for us even though it was well past breakfast time! And also very kindly organised a private sunset boat ride from the property which was great. He also took care of the airport transfers. We paid for everything at the end of our stay which made things so much easier as we just added things onto our tab as we went along. The value for money here was fantastic. If we had more time we would have also taken a felucca boat ride with picnic.

Beautiful hotel, very dreamy and romantic. the terrace for dinner and drinks has amazing view, the rooms are cosy and clean with amazing terrace and private pool. The staff is super nice, it was our anniversary and they surprised us with an room upgrade and chocolate cake! perfect place to relax and recharge. Philae temple is right next to it and very close for a day trip. Food was good, and prices in the bar are not too expensive.

We were very excited to stay at the hotel given its impressive history. We were blown away by how beautiful it is. You feel like you have stepped back into the Victorian-era with the archaeologists and famous guests who have stayed at the hotel. You can also tour Agatha Christie's / Winston Churchill's rooms for free (if they are not occupied by guests). Our room was spacious, clean, modern, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The room was cleaned daily and the staff always ensured we had plenty of water. The hotel has stunning views of the Nile and Elephantine Island from basically anywhere on the property. Since it's located right on the Nile, we found it very easy to hop on to a felucca or boat to take us around. There are plenty of taxis around on the road-side of the hotel too. There is also an ATM on site, which is helpful. There is a very helpful concierge on site to help arrange tours if needed. We enjoyed delicious dinners at all of the restaurants at the hotel, including the stunning 1902 restaurant. Breakfast was also fantastic - diverse and plentiful. The kitchen can also make you lunch boxes to take away with you on your daily adventures. We toasted our days exploring Aswan at the gorgeous bar. The service from each staff member we encountered was just outstanding - everyone was warm, friendly, attentive, helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We enjoyed watching the sunset while swimming in the pool, and we even managed to fit in some exercise at the modern and well-equipped gym. We ended up having to stay an extra night because a sandstorm prevented us from catching our flight to Cairo - the staff were so helpful and even upgraded our room for free. We highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return!

This place escaped heaven and made a branch out of it by the Nile bank. Amazing, the location, the staff, the serenity, food, the cleanliness of the room, the room style and decorations! AMAZING!

Firstly the property is very big and well decorated with awesome view of the lake Naseer.Secondly the staff were very welcoming and give you a home like feeling as we got lucky to have a upgradation of the room from suite to a mini flat with various complimentary addons.Lastly the location is very close to the Abu Simbel temple and the lake as well.I would like to mention the name of the Reception manager Hany for his cordial behavior and other staff like Basma.All over it was a very pleasant stay and would like to recommend others to visit The Lagoon resort to have wonderful time. The 3 hour journey from aswan to abu simbel through the desert road was also once in a lifetime experience.
