Formerly called The Castle Arms, The newly refurbished Mey Hotel is a 19th-century coaching inn and Visit Scotland award winning hotel just 8 miles from John O'Groats, in the village of Mey. Located along the north coast, it’s a great spot for exploring. There’s a very personal touch with this hotel, and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, as was the evening meal. We sat in the lounge in front of the fire in the afternoon and enjoyed the ambiance of a very tastefully decorated room. Thanks for such a lovely stay.

This small, family-run hotel has free Wi-Fi and free parking. It is in the centre of Castletown, close to Thurso and Wick and only minutes from the Castle of Mey. this hotel is a gem! after a few nights in the Highlands where other places (more expensive) were quite disappointing, everything about Castletown hotel was very impressive. the friendly lady when checking in, the facilities, the level of cleanliness (remote for tv wrapped in plastic in covid times), the breakfast, the comfortable bed.

Set in Thurso, 36 km from Sinclair's Bay, Forss House offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Absolutely amazing. The staff very friendly, upgraded our room for our honeymoon. The tub was incredible. The house was beautiful, the gardens serene, the tasting menu dinner delicious and filling, great selection of wines, the breakfast also was delicious a la carte style... overall, worth the price, we would love to come back for Christmas someday.

The Portland Hotel is located in Lybster. Boasting a spacious guest lounge, this property also provides guests with a restaurant. Guests can have a cocktail at the bar. The staff was exceptional!!! Food was fantastic!!! I highly recommend this place! Amy fixed our breakfast for our early morning trip to Orkney islands.

On the banks of the River Thurso in the village of Halkirk, this hotel is a 10-minute drive from Thurso town centre. It is built from Caithness stone, and has free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location right by the river. The staff were wonderful and the food fabulous. The breakfast was huge and delicious. If you want a place to stay away from the crowds on the NC500, I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

In Wick, in the beautiful area of Caithness in the Northern Highlands, Mackays offers award-winning service and fine food in No1 Bistro, as well as free Wi-Fi and parking. Wonderful staff, great location and warm lovely rooms with perfect touches. I was so impressed with attention to detail, comfort, value and a very comfortable bed. Would definitely stay again. I can also recommend the fabulous breakfast options and the bistro at No. 1. Faultless dinner with beautiful ingredients and high on taste.
