How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Value for money, very clean, convenient location with few steps away from train and bus stations. Room was very specious. Travelling with kids made very easy.

Nothing to dislike.
Good size room and great amenities throughout the hotel. An easy walk to Kyoto Station. Great shopping nearby. Lovely helpful staff and a great common area that can be used to relax in.

This is the best accommodation I've stayed in during my one-month travel journey. No doubt all Japanese hotels are exceptionally clean, but this one is more than clean; it feels brand new and fresh. The location is perfect, with the station within 100 meters. Facilities are great, Coffee library , Coin Laundry inside the hotel. Highly recommended

We cannot prepare food in the comfort of our room. We cannot use the washing machine because it is ALWAYS occupied. The affiliated 24/7 coin washing machine is around 10min away, such a hassle.
We love the free food offerec.

Not so much a dislike, more a tip. I think the Gion/Higashiyama area would be a nicer area to stay in Kyoto. Just more things around you

The hotel provided a place for customers to wait for the check in. We felt very thoughtful for the customers. The location was good. Only walking distance to the Toji temple. A few buses in front of the hotel to catch to the different famous attractions. The staff were very helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The buffet breakfast was nice. The free cafe time was an extra treatment.

I found the pillows really hard and uncomfortable.
The location was fabulous- right across from the train line. The room was clean, staff were friendly and they had a nice breakfast.

The toilet for triple room is abit small.
The location is quite near to Toji station, is just opposite of the hotel, 2 mins walk. There's lift & elevator in the station, so no worries on the luggage movement. Hotel are comforatable and spacious right enough for 3 pax in triple room.

The fridge was not cleaned by the housekeeping, after feedback to reception, the hotel housekeeper immediately came and clean it. The toilet for triple room is abit small.

The only thing I didn't love was the pillows, idk if it's just a normal thing in Japan but my pillow was very flat and it was a little hard on the neck but usually a short soak in the tub the following morning would sort it out
The room size was good, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent every single day, with different options available daily. The coin laundry was extremely helpful for our long trip abroad.

Room was pretty small, but understandable for the splendid location.
Hotel was conveniently located opposite the toji station. Many restaurants walkable from the hotel. Toji temple was also a few bus stops away.

Location is not so convenient - it is served by bus and the kintetsu line but not covered by the normal subway line. Hence need to change from subway to bus / walk 10mins from the nearest subway station.
The room was clean, the hotel looks new, amenities were very good, room size ok, staff were very courteous, helpful and polite. Room was facing the back hence very quiet. had a comfortable stay.
